An Island Getaway Designed for the Masses

In the summer of 2020, my clients began looking for a second home in the San Juan Islands as an escape from the hustle and bustle of city life and busy careers. They found their respite in this post and beam home nestled along the waterfront and surrounded by trees. While the bones of the home and adjacent log cabin were in good shape, it needed a facelift to match the playful aesthetic of the homeowners. We looked to the land for inspiration with this seaside second home and created a colorful yet peaceful retreat for the masses.

“Amy spent time getting to know our family and how we imagined using the space, and then crafted a beautiful design that could handle the wear and tear of teenage boys, our guests, and the family dog. She made it really easy for us, gathering our ideas and then turning them into proposals that were ten times better that we could have imagined. We also appreciated her organized approach - it felt like she’d done so much work before our meetings that we could make dozens of decisions in minutes when we met. We couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out. Our house looks stunning - the colors and fabrics and artwork flow together seamlessly without trying too hard - and the end result could be in a magazine but still feels like home.
