In the summer of 2020, my clients began looking for a second home in the San Juan Islands as an escape from the hustle and bustle of city life and their busy careers. They found their respite in a post-and-beam home nestled along the waterfront and surrounded by trees. While the bones of the home and adjacent log cabin were in good shape, it needed a facelift to match the homeowners’ playful aesthetic. We looked to the land for inspiration for this seaside second home and created a colorful yet peaceful retreat.
